The Most Dangerous Plastic Surgery

With cosmetic surgery on the rise, and intense medical procedures becoming the norm as body standards become increasingly unrealistic, the true physical toll of these surgeries is often overlooked as their popularity grows.

In October 2018, the British Association Of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons announced that the 'Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) Surgery' was the most dangerous procedure to undergo, however, despite this warning, the amount of BBLs performed globally has increased by 77.6%, according to a recent study by the International Society Of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

The difficulty with this procedure is that high volumes of fat are taken from certain areas of the body and then injected to areas with large veins, clots can then form and travel to the lungs and the heart which can cause fatality. A risk of infection, bleeding, wound break-downs and chronic wounds are further potential consequences that scientists are concerned that patients don't have an understanding of. Mary O'Brien, a member of The British Association Of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, stated in an interview with ITV news that the association recommends that this operation is not undergone as of the "unacceptable fatality and also morbidity rate,".
